tore this out of Grazia a few weeks didn't i. i love the melancholy. all the grey. i just mostly like the dress. alot.
gang of hours
a little while ago Elena and I did a little project, under the name of gang of hours. feeling frustrated creatively we started making and designing jersey necklaces based on and evolved from a concept i'd had in the uni years. we did a shoot to document the whole thing. we had intended to take the project further and push forward with more collections and colour ways. but we both got kinda busy. bummer.
the gorgeous girl doing a mighty fine pout for us is Sophie. a massive bless her/ thanks too, for it was a very bright but deceivingly cold day. she's also totally rocking that absolute babe 90's thing i have a penchant for.

how not to end an evening
waking up in Hainault. the last tube back to civilisation long having been and gone. is not the one. to the then realise you have left your debit card in a pub in Soho along with your unpaid tab. is also not the one. and very distressing. you can't even actually begrudgingly pay for the over priced probably illegal mini cab home. i would not recommend this series of events as the end you want to casual Tuesday night drinks.
thank fuck for Addison Lee and the kind pal who sorted it.

mind your own business.
"can I have a taste of your ice cream. can I lick the crumbs from your table. can I interfere in your crisis... no, mind your own business."
wish i could find a better video or if this is the proper video i wish it was better. tried to find some live footage of this song too again didn't have much luck. found this rad picture though. wouldn't look out of place partying in Dalston with us this weekend, right?
pure brilliance from Delta 5. love this track. someone in the youtube comments described it as handsome and i think i totally agree. been somewhat obsessed with it since some one played it to me at a dinner party recently. granted everyone else was somewhat older than me at said dinner party but that made it super interesting when it came to music discussions. i was asked to compile a playlist to accompany the evening and i'm not gonna lie it went down pretty well (if you have spotify get it here) so we did a YACHT, Trash Kit, Cults for Delta 5 and Television trade off. pretty fair swap i should say.

total love forever
love at first sight. i could only be talking about my new shirt and not some silly boy. proper old school 'Mosch' vibes from the Love Moschino range. i laid eyes on it and wasn't going to let it out of my sight again. i think it's just too good. also i'm loving the buttoned up kook at the moment, i'm trying to keep things modest. but the shirt is also over sized enough or i'm short enough for it to be worn as a dress with very opaque opaques. win. but perhaps not so modest. guess it evens out.

I couldn't help but accessorise it with my ornate black metal collar necklace.
which i have decided instantly adds a certain je ne sais quoi to anything and everything in my wardrobe. that said it was an absolute steal costing me all of £4 from Primark of all places and people never fail to comment on it, whenever i wear it. weird right. its funny how you can just pick something up on a whim and it turn out to be the perfect accessory.
shopping for shirts and always for jokes.

google this.
(please excuse as always my awful hands)
you can read Alice's full post here.
more loveliness from Manuela...
most annoyingly i missed the preview of this collection last month. now seeing the look book images i'm even more annoyed that i did. very much liking her progression from last season but how it's all still very Manni and in keeping with her lovely aesthetic that i do so adore.
below are my favourites from the AW11 look book. the pleated skirt in look 14 has definitely made it on to my want. need. list. actually who am i trying to kid so has the sheer t-shirt and cut-away dress. yes please.
look at her website and blog for further more than loveliness.xx
Becci bought me a disposable camera most of them came out bad.
balloons. bunting. bands. booze. best buds.
i was hoping these pictures would come out better. seems fine.

crimes against eyes.
This morning I was privileged enough to be the occupier of a precious seat from my departing tube stop. Although my unassuming eyes weren't quite so lucky as my legs and suffered a full frontal assault. I couldn't help but give the unfortunate girl standing up before me the once over. Not only unfortunate in that she hadn't a seat but mostly with her poor outfit choice. I can't even begin to regal the horrors of her ensemble to you plus its not really my style. However what I enjoyed most about this girl was the absolute disdain it stirred in the lady next to me. She hasn't obviously perfected the subtle judging eyes as I have because she properly looked her up and down and made no secret of the fact. It was really quite something to witness. So here I am looking at sitting bitch lady, looking the poorly put together standing girl, up and down. It was all quite uncomfortable, at this point I felt a small pang of sympathy for standing girl until I glanced again and realised my eyes had suffered enough. Please someone just give her a seat and remove her from my eye line.

home comforts. or something.
found some old pictures i'd taken. the amazing knitted blanket isn't even mine i think i just liked it and took some snaps. remember liking the colours. i wish i was wrapped up in it right now though. think it would look pretty rad in my room too.
spring dreams
please won't the spring sun hurry. so i can dream about the place in something floaty and lovely. not that anything i will attempt to wear or own this coming season will be as fucking lovely as the SS11 Erdem collection. yes i am aware my complexion and vertically challenged pins (let alone ridiculous cans of cider in the park lifestyle) cant carry ethereal floaty maxi styles. but one can dream.
planning more parties. definitely starting more riots.
same party. slightly different look for the posters and flyers. think we went a little keen with the felt tips but hey Alice and I don't do anything by halves.
our first friday party. fingers crossed.
check le bands here. they're rad. and i'm not just saying that because i booked them. they actually are.
peachy pandas
got my nails did by the lovely 'peachy keen' Alice over the christmas period. they went down a treat on nye with randoms at a house party. good ice breaker. you can see her full post here, she had a busy afternoon.
pink glittery neon with pandas. with diamante eyes.
they were lots of fun and v cute.
i always say to myself this time i'll get chic edgy nails.
but i always end up shopping for jokes.

any way there is always next time. one of the pros of having her on the firm.
conversations with the 'ultimate style jury'...
a week at home for the christmas festivities meant a week of backhanded compliments, misguided advice, plain old misunderstanding and mostly me feeling foolish. cue lots of sighing and patient smiles from all parties; a week with the 'ultimate style jury', the parents...
christmas eve, mums house, in response to denim jacket layered under my leather biker jacket combo:
mother: where's your winter coat?
daughter: i didn't bring it
mother: why not?
daughter: it's too heavy to carry
mother: why didn't you wear the coat?
daughter: i didn't want to be all hot and bothered on the train down
daughter: i didn't want to be all hot and bothered on the train down
mother: well there's no chance of that now, silly girl.
christmas day, dads house, in response to my (gorgeous) tan leather huge wedge loafers:
dad: you look like a giant
daughter: hardly, i'm just normal height
dad: well, your making me nervous, take them off
daughter: but they make my legs look nice and this outfit looks rubbish with out them
dad: your clomping about like a retard, take them off
boxing day, seafront walk, in response to my chunky knit over sized cardigan and my fave charity shop find.
dad: what's that horse blanket?
daughter: what horse blanket?!
dad: that, (points at cardigan) that horse blanket you're wearing
boxing day evening, at mums, filling me with confidence as always, whilst getting ready to go for drinks in town:
daughter: do you think 23 is too old for knee high socks?
mother: not really, anyway you hardly look 23 do you
daughter: well what do you think about these tights with holes and ladders in
mother: that's NEVER EVER okay darling
mother: that's NEVER EVER okay darling
daughter: well what do you think of the jumper? (camel chunky knit slightly cropped jumper)
mother: its a bit 80's isn't it
30th december, mums house, packing case and getting things together for the return to London home:
daughter: i hate traveling back to london after christmas, i always look like such a bag lady
mother: you've always been a bit of a bag lady though haven't you darling
daughter: no, i like hand bags mum, that's different
mostly fun.
2010 was a lot of things. new manor. new job. pals all new. old love and new loves. old heartbreak and new heartbreak. and it was the start of the club night i always wanted to try. it was partying pretty much every night in May with Elouise. lots of drinking cherry cider in London Fields. planning our party and starting a riot with Alice. it was the start of things. it seemed mostly fine.
and it was mostly fun.
and it was mostly fun.
it was also double mega lols. actual.
guilty. guilty.
its terrible but i find myself randomly singing this on a daily basis. i have no idea why. there's absolutely no logical reasoning for it.
I will add that it was once a staple 'anthem' on a mix tape my mother bear recorded for me when i was a small person compiled of terrible songs probably recorded straight off the radio and entitled something naff like 'rachel's party mega mix'.
anyway it is pretty bad and pretty good at all once. i am aware that doesn't make it okay.
if you didn't come. you should have.
last night was this. and it was pretty rad. thanks to everyone who came down. especially to the bands. who actually all turned up this time. there were also lots of cute boys there. some in bands. some not. either way i am not complaining.
the absoloute babes, scrap that, the ridiculously pretty Novella kicked off the show. followed by my absolute favorites Chapter Sweetheart (who were quote "the stand out band of the evening" un quote thank you Hal). with Rayographs playing there dreamy girl agg next. (which i sadly missed because i was covering the door but could hear the faint din of Yellow Hair my favourite track from them through the wall so seems fine). And then Applicants, best listened to with a pinch of salt headlined the show. their charisma and pretty funny but pretty loaded skits of songs (TESCO. METRO. DISCO definitely a personal high light) was perfect Sunday fun. then Alice and I played some party tunes at the end of the night to keep everyone dancing for a bit. we didn't crack out this bad boy tune this time either. shame. but there's always our next party.
